Terrific 21

18 Jun

In 3 short months, Haley and I are turning 21 years old. 21 YEARS OLD! Where did our childhood go?

Awwww 🙂 Now who’s who? I’ll give you a hint: I’m the cuter one (Haley: No I’m the cuter one!) Correction: We are both cute! And we both look the same anyway, right? 20 years later and we still have bad hair days 🙂 #curlyhairproblems

Anyway, I digress.  We are nearly 21 years old and halfway done with college. That means, two more years until we are out of school for good! Adulthood is right around the corner.  This past year, Haley and I have started to make some changes in our life; changes that involve committing to a healthier lifestyle.  Read our story here. Finding a balance between college classes, a social life, eating, exercising and everything life throws at you is difficult but we are committed to beginning our journey toward a healthier us.  We know this isn’t something we can expect to happen overnight, but we are choosing to commit ourselves to the ups and downs that come with this kind of long term commitment 🙂

We made this blog with the intention to SHARE what we are learning about committing to a healthy lifestyle with YOU. So, we thought it would be fitting to share our TERRIFIC 21 Healthy Living Plan with you all.  Remember, we are not professionals, dietitians, etc. just college gals trying to adopt a new way of life!

First up: Our Goals for the next 3 months. As you will see, these are super general.  We want to adapt them to meet our needs wherever we happen to be in our fitness journey over the next few months. Each week we will be sharing our specific goals for the week and end the week with a recap of how we did! (Miranda did an awesome job with this, and has helped to inspire us to do the same!) We hope you will follow our progress and maybe learn something along the way!

Terrific 21 Plan

Now, for the exercise portion of our plan:

StayActive

I know. First glance you might be going “Wow! This is so simple!” But you know what? Simple is better 🙂 Haley and I are both working FULL time this summer which means fitting in exercising is going to be just as hard as it is during the school year.  I find that if I specifically plan out what I’m going to do every day I feel guilty when I don’t actually make it happen.  NO LONGER! We are committing to 3o minutes of cardio, 5 minutes of abs, and yoga EVERY day.  This allows us to be flexible.  If we have time to do 45 minutes of cardio one day, great! If not, no problem.

More on our plan to come! We hope you will join us on our journey. Feel free to share your fitness plan with us (this could be an epic fail, but use the hashtag #twineats) Aurora–We are so learning Twitter this summer! We would love to know what you think!

Check back for updates!

This is such a great idea- I may have to join you in finding goals. And YES. I’m just hashtagging random things and have no idea what I’m doing!

haha oh man, I just had all of my friends come over to my boy friends apartment (because it was huge, and let’s face it since he was a boy, dirty to begin with!) and my parents donated some drinks and cake. We all got dressed up and had a blast!

That sounds like fun! You only turn 21 once 🙂
