Oregon Eats!

How is your Wednesday going? We are having a blast here in Oregon! Even though Hanna has school during the week, we are still having fun. By the way, if you didn’t know this yet, we ARE TURNING 21 IN TWO DAYS! We will share our birthday party decorations in a post for you soon–think cupcakes, cute signs and party hats!

Our eats this week consist of yummy homemade meals with the occasional treat when we are out and about. Check it out–we hope you are inspired!

We definitely have an obsession with Nutella, but how could Costco go to such extremes? The nutella jar is as big as I am!! (No, we did not buy it!).

Now, on to our eats from this week!

Garlic! One of our favorite ways to add flavor to our dishes. Garlic infused olive oil is perfect for cooking veggies for a quick stir fry!

Kitchen prep at it’s finest! We bagged up carrot and mixed frozen veggies for quick meal prep later in the week.

Frosting “shots”! We got these treats from our favorite cupcake bakery. Every girl deserves a treat once in a while, right? ūüôā

What We Ate Wednesday

Hey everyone!

We’ve made it to Wednesday, and that means another round of WWAW. ¬†Thanks as always to Peas and Crayons for hosting!

Before we launch into our our eats, check out what Haley did yesterday after work…Mariner’s Game!

Check out these seats! ¬†Haley’s note: I have never had the chance to sit where I see the whole field at once, so it was really neat to see the whole game in action! ¬†Plus, it was like 80 degrees the whole night ūüôā

Now, on to our eats!

When it comes to lunches, we love having simple, fresh meals! ¬†Lately, we have really been craving summer salads and our “lunch bowls” normally have some sort of green (spinach, kale, lettuce), along with veggies and some sort of light dressing like balsamic. ¬†This salad (above) had some couscous pasta, with tomatoes, black beans and corn–yummy! ¬†Carrots and hummus also joined the lunch party ūüôā

Snacktime! ¬†This is one of our favorite snacks lately–sesame sticks and rice crackers (both from TJ’s) atop some PB 2. ¬†Wierd combo, we know, but so delish!

This week, we have really been focusing on clean eating, and it is helping our focus and energy levels!  What did you eat today?

What We Ate Wednesday

Howdy, all! ¬†It’s Wednesday, and that means another edition of WWAW from your favorite twins ūüôā ¬†Thanks to Peas and Crayons for hosting!

This week, we had lots of leftovers on the menu! ¬†Usually at our house, dinner one night means leftovers for lunch the next day! ¬†This makes for an easy lunch on the crazy busy work days. ¬†Here’s a look at some of our delicious eats from this week:

Vermicelli Pasta! ¬†That’s Italian for delicious (just kidding) and is a favorite around our house. ¬†We got the recipe from Pasta & Co, a local eatery that specializes in pasta salads and everything Italian.

Pesto! ¬†This is turning into a pasta filled week for us. ¬†Luckily, we all enjoy whole wheat pasta and usually pasta is a side, not the whole focus of our meal–we have to get some veggies in there too! ¬†For those of you who are looking at the picture and are thinking, “Ick, it’s green!”, the green color comes from basil–so delicious!

Don’t you hate it when your bananas go bad on you quickly? ¬†These two look like they may be retired soon into a smoothie. ¬†We really don’t like mushy bananas, but in smoothies they are perfect. ¬†Apparently there is a quick fix for keeping your bananas ripe longer–saran wrap around the stem! ¬†What do you think about that?

Overall, we have had a pretty healthy week, in terms of our food choices.  After our weekend of not-so-good-for-you food, it feels good to detox and get back on the healthy eating train!

Howdy, friends! It’s another What We Ate Wednesday ūüôā This week, we have been really focusing on “clean eating”, and our meals have been pretty healthy. It’s amazing what good foods can do to improve your energy levels (no sugar crashes!) and wellbeing. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:

It’s Wednesday! ¬†And that means another look at some of our yummy eats from this week. ¬†Maybe you will get some ideas from us about what you should get during your next grocery run…. ūüôā

If you are a long-time reader of our blog, you know of our crazy obsession for anything from Trader Joe’s (we’re serious). ¬†In particular, TJ’s has some of the greatest cereals, so if you are ever in the market for an oatmeal alternative (we love oatmeal, but sometimes we like switching it up) this whole grain cereal is a must have! ¬†It is crunchy and yummy like granola, yet has so many good things for you in it (think omega 3s and whole grains).

We can’t forget Kashi! ¬†Confession time: ¬†We cheat on our beloved oatmeal with Kashi GoLean…Who can resist the crunchy goodness? ¬†And all that protein? ¬†These sisters are sold ūüôā ¬†This is the regular kind, but the Crisp variety is awesome!

These little gems have yet to make it onto our dinner plates, but we are looking to you for suggestions.  How do you eat your sweet potatoes? We have read that this veggie is especially good for runners to eat (woo hoo), so we are eager to try our hand at baking/cooking with them.  Suggestions?

While too much dried fruit isn’t the best for you, these dried cherries make the ideal topping to our breakfast oatmeal, or as a snack. ¬†Our household has a variety of dried fruit in rotation, but these are by far one of the favorites!
